If you build it, they will come.
Or if you destroy it, will they run? That’s every do-it-yourselfer’s fear—a home-improvement project that goes awry.
Making your home a better place to live is as Americana as apple pie, the Fourth of July and baseball games.

In this hilarious collection of 65 real-life stories, the authors have bravely stepped up to the plate to hit their DIY home runs. Depending on what’s thrown at them, some strike out and most make it to base. But they all have one important thing in common—they are not afraid to try.

We invite you to root for our authors as they share their favorite DIY adventures. And who knows—maybe you’re already on the home improvement team, ready to hit that DIY grand slam. You can do it, and they will come.

So, if you want to laugh at (and perhaps empathize with) those crazy people who take on home remodeling and repairs themselves, too often with less than desirable results, then Not Your Mother's Book...On Home Improvement is the ticket. It includes 65 true and funny stories by homeowners, young and old alike, from across the nation (and from a few other countries), who have tried their hands at home repairs and remodels--something some have sworn off forever. From cleaning out stopped-up poop-filled toilets to crashing walls and breaking pipes, these folks seem to have tried it all.

If you are the unenthused helper in your spouse's home improvement projects (like me), or the actual enthused DIY'er, this book is for you. 60 stories cover the gamut of electrical missteps, demolition disasters and well-intentioned renovation failures.

This is a great book for the cabin (unless you're re-doing it and don't have free time). Pick it up and read a few stories and come back and read some more next time. I've given three copies to the Home Depot addicts in my life.

Most of us have tried our hand at home improvement projects, and most of us have lived to tell about and yes laugh about it...after the fact. This book is a hilarious collection from real people, sharing their successes, and often their hellish nightmares. You will read through tears of laughter, how they succumbed to the lure of a DIY project, and came out the other side much wiser, and now they are published authors!
The thought of household repairs nearly kills me. But 60 writers lived through it to tell their stories in this humorous anthology. At the time it's happening, home repairs and all the things that go wrong are not funny at all. But once you give the sawdust some time to settle and the water from the broken pipes time to recede, the stories get more funny each time they're told. I laughed at the people in these stories . . . and with them, and I thanked God I was not in their handyman-shoes. Read this book. It is lots more fun than landscaping, remodeling, wiring, or plumbing. And maybe you'll learn what not to do!
If you've ever picked up a hammer or a screwdriver, rewired a light switch, or repaired a leaky faucet, this is the book to read. Nothing ever goes as planned when you're fixing something around the house. In a strange way, that's what makes home repair so interesting. It's always a challenge no matter what you're trying to fix. Not Your Mother's Book...On Home Improvement captures the wildest and most hilarious moments of anyone who has ever shouted to their spouse, "Don't worry, honey. I can fix it!"

This is a book you do not want to miss. Grab a copy before you tackle your next home improvement job. It's sure to put you in the mood for whatever lies ahead. Or at least have a good laugh after it's done.
Every homeowner and anyone considering their first home purchase should read this hilarious book! Actually, Home Depot should offer one to customers that spend over some set limit (H.D. can set their own limit). It would guarantee that those customers return again and again! You name the project, it was covered in this book. Anything that could go wrong, did go wrong! Amazingly, there were actually a few people that zoomed through some pretty tough projects, but even their stories had some hilarious hiccups along the way. I laughed out loud at every story, especially the ones that were reflections of me and my DIY projects. From a roof top fall onto the driveway...to a woman mixing 31 bags of cement all by herself...to...no, I'm going to tease you! Trust me, you will love it and loan it to every friend you have. We've all been there...some of us more times than others. If you haven't been there yet, then it's time you take on your first Home Improvement job. No matter the outcome, you will laugh about it for years, just as the writers in this book have. Not Your Mother's Book...On Home Improvement is a real winner.
